Byrgenwerthnotes of Paleblood, rebuilding Bloodborne one verified function at a time

Credits

The port stands on other people's work. Names and links are added here as the work they enabled lands; nothing is copied without its license being honored.

Runtime and emulation

  • bbport (https://github.com/deadinside28/bloodborne_pc, repository owner deadinside28): a native Linux port of Bloodborne 1.09 that runs the original executable directly. Studied in bbport study. Paleblood ran on a minimal fork of it, and recorded its verification inputs there, until October 2026; it is being removed and kept here as history. GPL-2.0-or-later. It credits, and we inherit the credit for:
  • shadPS4 (https://github.com/shadps4-emu/shadPS4): the video core and shader recompiler bbport is built on. GPL-2.0-or-later. Paleblood uses none of its code.
  • sirit, half, FSR-Vulkan by FireBurn (MIT), AMD FidelityFX SDK (MIT), LibAtrac9 by Thealexbarney (MIT), Dear ImGui (MIT), dxil-spirv (MIT).

Tools

  • SelfUtil-Patched (xSpecialFoodx), based on selfutil (dmiller423): SELF to ELF conversion for the target.
  • orbis-pkg-util: PKG extraction.
  • Ghidra: analysis and the function export that sets the progress denominator.

Community patch authors

Authors of community patches whose work documents patch points, as credited in bbport's patches/Bloodborne.xml and README. One entry per patch is added here when we use it.

  • Kyo (frame-rate patches 30/60/90 FPS++, which located the frame limiter), Lance McDonald (free camera; Uncap FPS++ with Kyo), yogesh1239 (Sprint Fix (High FPS)), auser1337, illusion (skip intro), emoose, and other community members. Which patch each wrote is recorded per patch in the XML; this list follows bbport's own credits and is not complete.
